I came up with this concept about 8 yrs or so and using a egg stand and drilling a hole in it and gluing a #8 cork I came up with the idea. Of course the artwork is a sublimation process on a metal disc with an epoxy doming resin. As you can see here is the final result.
Even dipping the egg stands in a stain is a nice way to give the wood grain some gloss. I always tell my customers to "Put a cork in it" when I'm making and selling these at wine events and craft shows.

If I could do 1/2 stars I would've done 4 1/2 simply because a few of the corks didn't fit my bottles (all the same size). Some went in just fine, others didn't. Fortunately I got extra ones and have 4 that fit well.
