I made a sundial for students using wooden spools from a wire company. The center hole was too large to keep the pole stationary. So I used those corks to plug those 2 holes. Drilled a hole in corks to install the pole.
Glued 12 rocks around dial for telling time. WhaaLaa, it works perfectly & kids are quite impressed.

I never get it right
I have ordered a few dozen of these in the past few years, and currently I have about 12 that don't fit the jars I bought them for. I follow the instructions when ordering, but if you're off a hair in measuring it's all it takes to big too big or too small. When they do fit, they work wonerfully. I never return the ones that don't fit for an exchange, but I should. I'm giving it only 3.5 stars instead of 5, because I don't think it's entirely operator error. Some lots fit the jars, and other lots of the same size will arrive that don't fit the same sized jars.
