Suggested for wines: up to 7 years old Material: High Grade Natural Cork (4th of 9) Diameter: #9 (24mm) Length: 1-3/4" (44mm) Fits: Standard Wine Bottles (750ml)
Natural "First" Wine Corks are natural wine corks intended for wine storage of up to 7 years. Natural wine corks are punched from cork oak bark harvested once every 9 years, then dried for up to 2 more years. The wine corks are then sorted by quality; the fewer the lenticels (crevise like imperfections) the better the wine cork. "First" is a high quality natural wine cork.

Made from 100% natural cork harvested in Portugal. All corks are TCA treated, carefully handled and ready for bottling. Large orders are packaged in S02 packaging. This wine cork will compress to fit standard wine bottles - corker is required. We recommend a floor corker or better.
The First Quality wine corks that I received are, in fact, a great quality product. They seat perfectly, and easily into my wine bottles.

I was expecting a better cork...especially for the price and from the other reviews. We use a semi-automatic corker and bottled about 65 cases of one of our popular dry reds. Several of the corks leaked wine on the bottom of the box and some were so bad that we had to pull the cork out and re-cork. This was on one of our more expensive dry reds so it was very disappointing. The corks seemed brittle and broke very easily...you could actually break them with your hands. Not sure I just got a bad bag or what but with our production of about 1200 cases a year I cant afford to have this kind of problem, especially with our higher end wines. I will continue to search for a good cork supplier for our wines.
Reply from WIDGETCO: Thank you for the feedback.
Despite the best production and quality control efforts, there is always a small chance of a batch of natural corks being too dry. If wine is leaking while upright, we suggest investigating the wine fill line which may be too high a level. We encourage customers to test corks for leakage and breakage by installing cork and allowing bottle to remain upright for 4 hours. Then set bottle on side for a day. Remove cork to complete test. We do offer a satisfaction guarantee so if the product is not satisfactory they can be returned for a full refund. Dry and brittle corks are rare but can occur and we are happy to exchange. Thank you again for feedback.

Natural First Quality Corks
After trying other corks, I have settled on these First Quality corks as my preferred cork. We bottle about 500 bottles every season. I use a floor corker and have been very happy on well they perform. I have tried some other ones and they were mushy and did not want to insert properly and would break apart when uncorking. I typically let my wines age at least 3 to 4 years and some are around even after 7 years. These have performed very well and have not had any wine go bad due to cork taint. The only suggestion would be to package them in 100, instead of 1000 in one huge bag.

I have purchased these corks in the past and I think are superior quality and treated ready to use, to better preserve your wine I will highly recommend to buy these corks. Really outstanding!

First Quality Corks
I did not choose these corks to be placed in wine bottles as they are intended to be used for. I purchased these corks simply to make decorative ornaments for myself and family members. Out of the 25 purchased, I was able to find only 6 that were worth using because of the big holes, gouges, splits and missing pieces across the stamped print and elsewhere.
[From WIDGETCO: Sorry to hear you were not happy with the corks. The cracks and cervices do shrink when bottled. Our customer service team will help you further. Thank you for the feedback.'

First Quality Wine Corks
I was so pleased with this corks, no soaking required and worked like a charm in my floor corker. No little cork parts floating in my hard worked for wine, just the perfect corks and the only ones I'll ever buy again.

Great wine corks
These were extremely high quality corks. I was a little leery at first due to the large circumference of the corks, but they went into the bottles without any issues. The seal should be even better due to their size. I am very happy with this purchase.

First Quality Natural Wine Corks
I'm new to wine making, but one thing I know is a good quality cork is important to preserve a quality wine. These seem to fit the bill, I tested one in an empty bottle with a corker I had purchased separately. They compressed well and slid into the bottleneck sealing it perfectly.
Only time will tell how good that seal is, but the corks were smooth, clean, decorative and I have no worries about them spoiling the wine.

Excellent delivery time. Product is easy to insert (I suggest using a floor corker for a professional look). No defects seen in the product.
Chris T., NC - 5/13/2014

Arnie B., New York - 2/18/2014
Price was good, delivery fast, however the quality of the First corks seems a little less then Firsts I have bought from another source. Overall satisfied.
From WidgetCo: Rest assured, we will work to correct this.
What a fast shipment and could not have asked for better product. Crafted all weekend and may need to order more soon.

Good quality and prompt shipping.
Philip Z., Philadelphia - 3/27/2013
Fast shipping but horrible quality!
The shipping was fast but when I web to use them, they were to dry and broke and cracked easy, not a quality bottling cork.
[Reply from WIDGETCO: Thank you for the feedback. We are happy to replace any corks that might seem dry. It is a rare occurrence that should have shown on a quality inspection. Sorry for any inconvenience.]

Very good quality.
JR, Georgia - 12/4/2012
Highest quality product AND service. The only problem is that the corks came with a cluster of grapes printed on them. I will have to sand the image off to make them work for my project. Otherwise, excellent product and
