Size 18 Cork Stoppers, Extra Select

I bought these to replace the original stopper in a 1947 vintage Stanley thermos my grandfather had owned. I measured the opening before I ordered, and they are perfect for the job. Thanks,and I will be back with other needs.

These little corks are the best for holding tiny sculptures while I work. It's always good to have many sizes so everything fits perfectly. The cork grips the wires and holds everything in place.

Perfect for intended use. The sizing chart is a big help. The first corks I bought off amazon said size 14 fits one gallon jug. It does not. If I every need cork again it will be through widget.

The cork is just fine, I just ordered the wrong size. I have a 5-gallon eagle metal gas can and I lost the lid you screw on the opening. I ordered one way to small for the opening. It was my fault I thought a size 18 would be sufficient. Thanks

Painted corks!!! sent for my thermos Received a painted cork product. Kids used it before I saw it and it out bad chemical smell and paint residue in their hot drink! Ordered 6-R28-EXTR-CS. It had good reviews and looked right online. Product delivered was covered in white paint. Disaster! [Reply From WidgetCo: Please note, we do not use paint on our corks - ever. The sanitization process is a peroxide wash to kill any microbials and can mechanically change the finish of the cork to give a bleached or white appearance. We immediate tested these corks in our own test in hot water and was not able to find any chemical odor. Cork is natural product and the natural bark material is in the cork can, in very rare occasions, give slightly change flavor or wines and spirits and other beverages. In these situations of cork taint, the odor and flavor can be undesirable. The benefits of cork contributing to enhanced flavor of wine (aging) and the very positive environmental impact of cork makes it an excellent closure in many situations. Even thermos used corks for decades. Regardless, we take any complaint very seriously and are always looking for ways to improve our product experiance. We thank you for your feedback.

Can not recommend for 1950s era Stanley 1qt themos I purchased 4 of these 18 x-select based off of reviews of use in Stanley thermoses. These did NOT work in my 50s era 944 thermoses. They did indeed fit in, but in doing so only left a 1/4" or so above the rim. I destroyed 2 trying to get them out once they were set in a hot thermos, by having to pry on them. Not enough material left to get a good finger purchase on. I did NOT slam or pop them in. This is not the manufactures fault. I can only assume those who claim these were perfect fits had either a 943 pint thermos(smaller opening in the 50s) or a later thermos, or were only using for display purposes. I will try a size 19. Shipping and packaging was fine.

Size 18 for vintage stanley thermos I don't recommend for 1950s era 1qt model 944 thermoses. I recently purchased 4, and out of 4, 1 worked pretty well. Leaving enough mtrl to grasp and remove. The other 3 left only 1/4 in above the rim for grasping. Once "set" with hot beverage, they could not be removed. I had to pry out with a knife. I did not "pop" these in. Simply pressed down snug and let the cap set. Quality seems very good if you need this size. I purchased because of the stanley thermos references, and can only assume the 50s era had wiider openings or reviewers are basing off of display purposes only. Shipping and packaging were fine.

Perfect Fit I measured the opening and went with a wide top and took a guess at half measurement because I wanted the cork to sink at least half way in and it worked!

Cork Quality Yes these are a tad spendy BUT once you examine the quality you will agree that these are Medical Grade and well worth the price.

Extra Select? I bought 3 size 18 Extra Select corks to use in an old thermos. Size was fine but quality was not acceptable! One cork was Extra Select and sealed the thermos fine. The second cork was of average quality (But not Extra Select as described online). It would seal only if alot of force was used. The third cork was not usable due to the number and large size of the crevices. I did not return the corks because of the time and expense. I tossed the third cork in with my fishing tackle. i wouldn't buy again.

Thermos Stopper Ordered to replace the No 11, one piece, stopper for Aladdin Stanley Thermos. The original stopper is no longer available. The cork size 18 is correct but the cork leak in the thermos. This may be due more to thermos construction, i.e. threads, than the cork which seems to be a high quality. My order was delivered promptly and was packaged in bubble wrap to protect the corks. Will use WIDGETCO again for cork products.

Not good for a Thermos Size is perfect for fitting a Vintage Stanley Thermos, but nothing like the original cork stopper that comes with it at time of purchase. If your plan is to use it as a replacement for your thermos as I did, buyer beware. Customer service is great though and Very fast shipping.

Not good for a Thermos Recently ordered a few new Cork stoppers for my thermos Size 17 and 18, decided to go with the extra special after reading the quality that supposed to go into manufacturer's choice corks and boy was I disappointed. After 1 use of my #18 extra special cork it broke in half upon attempting to remove it (shake my head) very disappointed in the quality, would give the #17 a try but didn't end up fitting my thermos top. Used the stock Cork for over 2 years without fault or leaks before it finally gave away, used your cork for 1 day and managed to prove they just don't make things like they use to. Hopefully it was a defective one none the less exploring my other options for better quality would not like to shell out more cash and get my hopes up for history to repeat itself.

Cork 17 & 18 This will be a combined Review. The corks were well packaged and nicely made. I unfortunately ordered the corks too large and seeing the quality of these I did not hesitate to order the smaller sizes. As for these I have plans for them they will fit. The purchasing with PayPal is a plus and the shipping was fast...esp out here in Hawaii. When the need arises I would be happy to do business with them again.

Very good for my glass water bottle I bought an ELLO glass water bottle and I wanted an alternative to the plastic cap(which is PBS free btw) so I went with cork, I ordered size 17 and 18 but they were too small and leaked, so I called customer service and they send me some more, and they also sent me size 19 which they all we're water tight, and only a few 18 were water tight, you really need to get the largest possible cork size for your application
