Bought this size to replace the torn plug on my floor jack's oil fill hole. This #0 size fits fine, and the extra select grade has the quality for a better seal. But cork is not as flexible as the EPDM stopper that I also bought and tried. EPDM would be better if you need to push aside the plug for air purging the jack. These tiny stoppers are hard to find. Widgetco seems to have them all, though.

I make and sell various art pieces that utilize small corked bottles. The corks that are included with the bottles are extremely porous and low quality. I was happy to discover this product as a replacement. I just placed my second order for 500 size 0 corks and will be ordering more as soon as those are used up.

I purchased extra select grade in quantities of 100 in each size of 0, 4, and 2. While I didn't perform an exact count, maybe 20% were what I would call extra select. Some were such inferior quality they were thrown away. Thus, my reason for 3 stars. However, the price wasn't over the top and I had free shipping due to the amount spent.

Exactly what was needed
I ordered the 0, 00, & 0000 sizes in the extra select to build the old school style of "popper" popping bug flies for bream fishing. I needed the extra select so that when painting I could avoid pre-filling all the lenticels so common on lesser quality corks. These are truly extra select. These corks are very hard to find these days, but nothing else has the same "feel" as the cork fly "poppers" of yesteryear. They are hardly ever used any more. But nothing works like real cork! Thanks Widgetco for keeping the old school fly patterns alive. Every time I use one of them I'm drawn back 44 years ago to a young 6 year old boy fly fishing in the Atchafalaya Basin with my dad and I can't help but smile.

Small Mouth Bass Poppers
Nice quality but inconsistent across sizes. Larger sizes (i.e. #2, #3) are better quality than smaller sizes. Regardless, figure 5 to 10% rejects if you are looking for flawless corks.
